6th ANNUAL CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNAMENT
MIAMI BEACH, FL – (SEPT. 29, 2016) After five years of hosting successful golf tournaments, raising more than $300,000 for education, Loews Miami Beach Hotel is proud to partner with NBA Champion, All-Star and Olympic Gold Medalist Ray Allen for this years event. The Ray Allen Celebrity Golf Tournament presented by Loews Miami Beach Hotel will take place Friday, October 21st, bringing together the whos who of sports and entertainment to raise money for education.
The exclusive charity event benefits DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that connects donors to Miami Dade County classrooms in need and The Foundation for New Education Initiatives, a Miami-Dade County School Board program created to enhance student achievement and community engagement. Additionally, a portion of this years proceeds will go to Allens own Ray of Hope Foundation which will fund a computer lab at a Miami-Dade public school.
After participating in Loews Miami Beach Hotels Celebrity Golf Tournament for several years, I saw this as a great opportunity to further support education initiatives in Miami-Dade, said Ray Allen. This event is a wonderful way to raise awareness for the needs of our teachers and school programming; causes which DonorsChoose, The Foundation for New Education Initiatives and Ray of Hope directly impact.
This years celebrity participants include Ray Allen, Dan Marino, DJ Irie, Pudge Rodriguez, Glen Rice, Alonzo Mourning, Jim Jackson, Placido Polanco, Rip Hamilton, Livan Hernandez and Nat Moore, among others. Each foursome will feature a celebrity player, and participants will enjoy special giveaways, activations and surprises at every hole. Loews Miami Beach Hotel Executive Chef Frederic Delaire will prepare the days cuisine, which will feature selections from the hotels award-winning Lure Fishbar. A pop up of Allen and his wife Shannon’s popular restaurant Grown will also be on hand, offering healthy bites of organic cuisine. A silent auction, raffle and online auction featuring luxury goods and experiences will also take place, with all proceeds benefiting DonorsChoose.org, The Foundation for New Education Initiatives and Ray of Hope Foundation.

Since its inception in 2010, Loews Miami Beach Hotel’s Celebrity Golf Tournament has raised more than $300,000 in resources for classrooms and students across Miami Dade County. Sponsors for this years event include PSAV, Boucher Brothers, Southern Wine & Spirits, Towne Park and more. Entry into the 18-hole, scramble format tournament, held at Miami Beach Golf Club, is $4,000 per foursome, which covers green fees for three players and one celebrity, premium gift bags, commemorative photo, breakfast, lunch and more.
